Most rabbit owners know that the majority of garden and household plants are toxic to rabbits. But the question remains; what flowers can I grow in my garden that are not harmful to my rabbits?
With so many toxic plants out there it’s easy to succumb to having a barren garden for the sake of our rabbits. But fear not, all is not lost! Here is a selection of plants that you can grow to create a beautiful and entirely rabbit friendly garden.
This should perhaps come with one warning: there is no guarantee that your rabbits won’t enjoy your new plants as a tasty snack!
The borage herb is a hardy plant that will last even in severe winters. It’s easy to grow and flowers in spring and summer. The flower is very pretty and would not look out of place in either a herb or flower garden.
Calendulas are hardy fast growing plants, they have vivid orange daisy like flowers. They can be either annual or biennial plants.
Camomile needs very little care once established. It looks very similar to daisies and will liven up any garden.
Lavender both looks and smells beautiful and would make a perfect addition to any garden. It flowers in summer and is a reasonably hardy plant.
Mallow is an easy to grow perennial plant that requires little maintenance. The flowers are vibrant and colourful.
Nasturtium are also easy growing plants, they flower in autumn and come in a variety of bright colours.
