Alfalfa aka Medicago sativa, Lucerne


This plant can grow up to 1 meter in height. It has a deep root system and is a very hardy plant. It has green leaves topped with purple flowers.

Can be eaten both fresh and dried.

Alfalfa is cultivated for livestock, it grows in abundance providing lots of food for grazing animals. Rabbits also thoroughly enjoy Alfalfa.

It is high in protein, calcium, vitamin’s B, C, D, E and K as well as being a good source of other minerals.
